He offered to let me use their land line to make a call. I did talk to the owner? And he stated they have been trying to get Verizon to add a cell tower but it was taking a long time. Location was good with good proximity to the major site seeing. We would stay in a different section next time. According to their handout these are the only sites with cable ( if that matters to you). We stayed in their "Base Camp" area and had cable with some limited channels but good quality. The pool looked nice and many people were enjoying it. This campground is very large and well kept. We had a Class A and a Jeep Wrangler, the site was plenty long for both.
RAFTER J BAR RANCH PORTABLE
The sites are gravel and most seem level ( ours was not and we needed to use an additional portable step). During the day we were unable to connect, and we were not able to make calls ( after 9pm we were able to make calls). The cell service is very bad (Verizon) and they only have internet near the main store and that is not very good. Amenities are very well kept, and the store is fully stocked. All campsites come equipped with full hookup services and permit fires. Only one tent is permitted per site, and tents are not allowed on RV or cabin sites. When tent camping, campers are asked to set up their tent on the dirt areas of sites, not the grass. Our staff continuously strives to offer a well-maintained and modern. Tent camping is permitted in a separate area than cabins and RV rentals. The Rafter J Bar Ranch south of Hill City is clean, quiet, well-shaded and scenic. Some of the camping areas do have bathhouses, such as Ranch Camp, whereas others are more primitive in nature and do not have access to bathhouses near the sites, such as The Islands. There are a variety of camping areas at this campground, all of which come with different perks and amenities starting at $35.95 per night. Keep control over your pup to prevent any issues during your stay. Aggressive and loud dogs will not be tolerated and will be asked to leave the park. Rules for dogs visiting the park include cleaning up all waste and managing their behavior. Rottweilers, wolf breeds, Pit bulls, and Chows are not permitted to camp at this location.
